5 Best Places in Southern Utah to Ride UTVs

In our opinion, there is no better place to ride UTVs than Southern Utah. Here are the five best locations for Southern Utah UTV riding.

This is the unsung hero of the list so we wanted to mention it first as you may not have ever seen this area on a list like this. But trust us, it deserves to be here. While many people associate UTV riding with sand dunes, don’t count out the more exploratory nature of cruising the trails of this incredibly beautiful area. You certainly won’t be pulling over very often to let other riders pass. Off-roading here is more about the adventure rather than the rollercoaster thrill. If you’re looking for a change of pace and want to blaze some new trails, hitch your trailer and head to the Gunlock area. If you ask nicely, the guys at Dirt Road Uber might share some of their secrets with you. They know this area like the back of their hand.

Sand Hollow State Park

No doubt this one makes the list as it is one of the most popular UTV riding locations in Southern Utah. Many off-roading adventure and tour companies have set up shop on the edge of the Sand Hollow sand dunes. Just a bit east of St. George in Hurricane, UT, here you’ll experience a sea of sand dunes of bright orange and red, sandy trails, all against the backdrop of the famous red rock of Southern Utah. Lots of climbing obstacles and some pretty challenging trails are waiting for you here. Reserve a campsite ahead of time so you can hit the lake during your excursion as well.

Pine Lake

A little under 40 miles east of Panguitch lies the OHV trails of Pine Lake. Park at the campground because you can embark on your UTV right from that location. This area boasts some awesome trails and stellar camping. You won’t find anything too technical here but the views are unbelievable.

Southeastern Utah is home to the city of Moab, an outdoorsman’s paradise. One of Utah’s most famous locations, people around the world come here for the incredible off-road trails, slick rock, and last but not least – sand trails. This is definitely the most technically challenging place on our list. Riders with experience will love UTV riding in Moab. But that doesn’t mean less experienced riders shouldn’t come. Have at it at your own risk or hire a UTV touring company to show you the area. Moab has some of the best views the state of Utah offers from the seat of a UTV, by the way.

Coral Pink Sand Dunes

A bit north of Kanab is where you’ll find the Coral Pink Sand Dunes, a strikingly beautiful ocean of red sand interspersed with pine and juniper trees; an incredibly unique landscape. This is a great spot to bring the whole family in addition to your motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs. Amenities such as a sewage dump station, showers, restrooms, paved roads, and campgrounds are available here as well. This is absolutely one of the best places for Southern Utah UTV riding.
